Scrap Journals.

As promised I'm showing you a couple of the journals I made some time ago, now that they are safe and sound in the hands of the recipients!
I made this with a Nantucket theme for a dear friend who has sweet memories about the Isle, as she was born there.

I used a burlap "net", a picture featuring two friends on the beach, shells and a vintage button to decorate the cover.

The inside...

All these pictures were taken in Nantucket... so very special, huh?

As you can spot I used old pages from an Italian book, just to add a special 'far away charm' to the journal!

I found almost all the pictures here, it is quite an interesting site about Nantucket/Vineyard. Enjoy having a look!

I made this other journal for another friend, using matching fabrics in her favorite color combo. I'm afraid I forgot to take pictures of the inside before mailing it. I only can show you the cover and the very first page, on which I made a collage with pretty girls. This is meant to become a "spiritual" journal.

I added a 'special something' on the cover, an Italian tiny medal women used to sew on clothes for protection.

Autumnal Birdcage.

I thought to use my gilded pumpkins for a lasting arrangement! I used some cream silk roses I had, pine cones, ribbons and raffia. No glue gun necessary, I simply tied raffia around each element.
The little hedgehog (made of hay and little branches) is a gift my DH gave me during one of our Austrian getaways some years ago. Love it!

Kim and I are preparing a Halloween surprise for you... stay tuned!

Have a great week, as for me I'd have loads of things to be laundered... alas, I have difficulty staying focused!;))

It's All about Me!

Hello and welcome to Natasha's It's 'All about Me' Party!
She asked us to create something to treat ourselves to... maybe something we had been wanting to do for ages! That's exactly my case!
You might remember I re-made this mini chest of drawers last Spring for my studio room...

... and I also made these patchwork totes as storage for my bits and bobs...

As I had this box from the thrift store and an ugly but functional board (whose 'before' picture I'll share in my next post, as I forgot to upload it here and I have no time for re-uploading all), I decided that THIS was the perfect time to finally have them done!

I covered the box with scraps of fabric (I used these fabcrics throughout my studio room), and added some vintage broderie anglaise.

Here you can see the board, it consists of two different parts.

I had one padded and ribboned...

... the other is covered in cork, and useful to pin notes and cards and anything I need to keep an eye on!

Here you can spot my new things in a corner of my studio room.

Please visit Natasha to see what the other girls came up with!
Enjoy!

Sweet Model and Fall Pleasures.

Hello everybody!
I'm helping 'Mom' while she's shooting...

I am such a good girl!

Mmm.... rather boring at times!

Let me crunch a pine cone...

... and have a little nap!!

After all those shots we indulged in some well-deserved rest (and hot tea with almond treats, unfortunately not for me!) in front of a crackling fire and the flickering light of candles. Aahhhh, joys of Fall!

Hope you are enjoying Fall simple pleasures too!
Monica (and Kim).
